The relationship with my bikes the past couple of weeks has been a little strained let’s say. It’s now to the point that I am starting to think that they are possessed, and out to get me for whatever reason. … Continue reading
I have landed one of the funest jobs that I have ever had. This is the new fitness, and recreation center on campus at CSUS. It is complete with a 39’6″ indoor climbing wall. Four racquetball courts, that share a wall with a restroom for those who need the proverbial fecal matter scared out of them. A full weight room, cardio studio, multiple basketball courts, and indoor soccer/hockey facility.
On top of all that we do things like try to set world record dodgeball games. So, along with being the boss, what more could I ask for?

“So which car is mine?” I asked one day after Jessica referred to the vehicle I have been making payments on for the past 4 years which she now drives, as hers.
“Don’t you know anything? What’s mine is mine, and what’s yours is mine?” Jessica replied.
I recently discovered that this this saying also applies not only to cars, but to both closet and bathroom space as well. This discovery comes from having gone from being the single occupant of an apartment, to being the cohabitant of what’s now HER apartment.
Now I know the men out there are probably cheering, and saying things like, “You tell them,” or “You go man!” However, I know that us men are just as possessive, and have just as much “stuff,” if not more, than women. I can attest to this as I have been spending my free time this week cleaning and organizing OUR apartment.
Yeah I may be outnumbered in the bathroom, but I think I win in the other rooms. Especially with two bikes, a 10ft kayak, scuba equipment, etcetera. That’s just the short list from what was once my “bachelor pad.” but I think you get the picture. In fact, I would like to emphasize that I referred to the apartment as OURS earlier, and I truly do regard everything as OURS, and not just the apartment.
This phrase has just become one of our many little inside jokes that we share, and laugh at when we are together. Merging our “stuff” together has actually been fun, and is just part of merging our lives together. However, don’t let Jessica fool you, she loves the plasma TV just as much as I do.
I saw this while shopping at Target this evening and was left with a few questions
1. Does no parking only apply to cars?
2. If they needed the cart to get to their car how did they get in the store, and then how did they return the key to Target?
3. Did the person realize that they no have prevented a wheelchair van from using that space to unload as it was intended?
4. Do they even care that someone may need that space next to unload a wheelchair?
As Jessica wrote, one of the driving ideas behind our blog was to share recipes that we have found and both love. This was the first recipe that Jessica suggested we try. The dressing may seem to be a bit odd with nutmeg, lemon, and garlic mixed together, but the flavors really do mesh superbly and the dressing truly is what makes this salad wonderful. Both of us fell in love with it from the first bite and now we are sharing it with all of you.
1/3 c. vegetable oil
1/3 c. lemon juice
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. fresh garlic, minced
2 1/2 c. cooked chicken, cubed
1 c. halved, seedless red grapes
1 c. (2 stalks) celery, sliced 1/4 inch thick
1/4 c. green onions, sliced
4 c. leaf lettuce, shredded
In jar with lid combine all dressing ingredients. Shake to mix. In large bowl combine all salad ingredients except lettuce. Toss salad with half of dressing. Cover and refrigerate at least 1 hour. Place lettuce on serving platter; top with salad. Drizzle remaining dressing over salad and lettuce.
Update: Below are a couple pics after I modified the salad using cucumbers, and sweet peppers in lieu of celery, and green onions. Enjoy!
Jessica found this show for us to watch together knowing how much I love cooking at home home. She knows what I like sooo well!!!!!!
